ADRIAN Garcia’s dream is to be a high goaler in the world league.

We’ve talked about all the different ways you can enjoy your favorite Japanese dishes—whether it’s getting bento boxes or bowls of ramen delivered to your home, trying out different iterations of the sushi bake trend or recreating your restaurant favorites in the kitchen.

But for days when you feel like eating small, here’s a guide to all the Japanese dishes you can enjoy from the palm of your hand—literally.

Takoyaki

One of the snacks you can easily find in the streets of Japan is takoyaki. Popularized in Osaka, this dish is a grilled ball of wheat flour batter filled with octopus meat, cabbage and green onions—all topped with takoyaki sauce, mayonnaise and bonito flakes.

Sashimi

If you’re the type to keep things simple, there’s always sashimi. This dish is made with thinly sliced seafood like salmon or tuna, served with soy sauce and wasabi. Oftentimes, sashimi is one of the first dishes served at formal meals in Japan to allow people to enjoy its flavors.

Sushi

More often than not, sushi is one of the first things that comes to mind when it comes to Japanese cuisine. The term refers to anything made with vinegared rice, traditionally made with vegetables and seafood like squid, eel, salmon, tuna or yellowtail.
