If you have a parking fine or a speeding ticket you need to settle, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) won’t accept your money in person—at least for now. Starting Aug. 17, the settling of traffic violation payments via MMDA Redemption centers will not be entertained due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
While the Metro Manila area is under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), quarantine pass holders who have traffic fines can still leave their homes and pay in person.
Instead of suspending fines or extending deadlines until the cases get under control, the MMDA is asking the public to settle their fines via online payment portals instead. The MMDA has yet to set up a provision for people without access to online payment portals.
“Hinihikayat ang publiko na gumamit ng cashless at online payment channels (Landbank, Bayad, GCash, PayMaya) para bayaran ang mga multa,” the MMDA announced in a statement.

Aside from settling traffic violations, you can also settle payments online for other government services like when you order your birth certificate or pay for your passport if you book your schedule online.
As of Aug. 16, over 12 million people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The caseload for COVID-19 is at 106,672 active cases with 14,610 new cases reported, according to the Department of Health.
