The Piano Teachers Guild of the Philippines will present the piano recital of Lisa Zheng, a student of professor Cecile Roxas-Basilio, on Oct. 26, 7 p.m., at the Little Theater of the Cultural Center off the Philippines.
The recital will be a combination of solo piano as well as collaborative works. The latter will be played together with the Manila Symphony Orchestra, conducted by professor Arturo T. Molina.
The solo works consist of the works of Franz Liszt, “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 10” and “Etude No. 3, “La Campanella”; Chopin, “Nocturne in B-flat Minor, Op.9, No.1” and “Etude no. 12 in C Minor, “Revolutionary”; and Alberto Ginastera, “Danzas Argentinas.”
The collaborative works will feature the concertos of Mozart, “Piano Concerto K. 459 in F Major” and “The Yellow River Concerto,” a concerto based on the cantata by Xian Xinghai that bears the same title.
Zheng is a grade-10 student at the International School where she is the pianist of the school’s orchestra conducted by professor Guime Odendaal. She had her piano lessons back home in Shenzhen, China, where she attended a master class given by noted concert pianist and pedagogue Paul Badora Skoda.
Her parents are Liping Zheng, an advisor at the Asian Development Bank, and Jianping Xue Zheng.
