The Museo ng Arkidiyosesis ng Maynila (Mana) has an ongoing exhibit of the winning artworks and finalists of the recently concluded painting competition of the Manila Archdiocesan Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church (MACC).

 

The top prizes went to: Ryan F. Caslib (First City Providential College, San Jose del Monte City), “Debosyon ng Kabataang Pilipino,” first place; Edu P. Perreras (Holy Rosary Parish, Angeles City), “Ala-ala sa Likod ng Lumang Retrato,” second place; and Andrew D. Tan (Feati), “Pundasyon,” third place.

 

Jurors’ Choice awards were given to: Alfredo V. Martirez (PUP Manila), “Supplicate @ Highway 54”; Chrisanto N. Aquino (San Juan Bautista Parish, Tarlac), “Rebuilding Faith, Love, Peace and Unity”; and John Raphael D. Carloto (TUP), “Kasaysayan ng Simbahan na Nais Malaman.”

 

The annual competition seeks to foster contemporary artistic interpretation of the Catholic faith among young artists. It also seeks to promote awareness and appreciation of religious art.

 

Theme this year is “Ang Simbahan sa Kasaysayan.” The young artists were invited to depict a significant event in Philippine Church history.

 

Mana is  on the third floor of Arzobispado de Manila, 121 Intramuros, Manila. It is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Exhibit runs until Feb. 28.
