Star Wars Globe Preen

I knew I wasn’t in just some trippy belated Halloween party when I saw stormtroopers and Sith Lords grab cocktails with me one night. Last Nov. 4 was one big Star Wars party, and Globe Telecom made sure it was one heck of a shindig.

The Ayala Museum was turned into a makeshift galactic hub for both geeks and guests alike—and with good reason. Through a partnership with Walt Disney Southeast Asia, Globe is bringing the Star Wars experience months before the seventh installment Star Wars: The Force Awakens shows in theaters on Dec. 17.

The Globe GEN3 stores carry a wide array of exclusive Star Wars gadgets that customers can purchase such as flash drives, power banks, car chargers, and toys such as the BB8 droid and collectible Funk-O-Pop figures.

That means new ways of becoming the Jedi masters we wish we were. We can now play pretend at Globe’s Generation 3 (GEN3) stores nationwide. Their branches have been transformed into Star Wars-themed spaces, complete with creative installations, exclusive Star WarsBattle Pod arcade games (play with a kid or just your geeky self), and premium collectible accessories, toys, and gadgets.

Another covetable robot also recently landed on our shores. Say good-bye to mindless conversations with Siri; the most in-demand toy, the BB-8 Droid by Sphero, is now in-store, and is also available at Globe GEN3 for pre-order.

In case there’s still a need to ease the fangirl or fanboy itch till the movie premiere, Dan Horan, senior advisor for consumer business at Globe, promises other things.

“We have about 10,000—or more—tickets to the premiere,” he reveals. “Normally, after Christmas, we move in to the Metro Manila Film Festival. Star Wars will only be shown for one week!” (Hold that heartbreak.)

“To get tickets that week is going to be incredibly difficult. So what we’ll be doing is to give them away. These will be the most sought-after tickets ever,” says Dan. The Globe Star Wars Premiere night, an advanced screening of the film, is happening on Dec. 16 as well. (Now, breathe.)

There’s also another secret Star Wars party happening real soon—but nobody knows when or where, exactly. Dan, our Han Solo (he was dressed like him, too), gives us a tip. “Through social media, we’ll let everybody know where and when it is. That’ll be your ticket to get in.”

Dear Force—or fast 4G—lead us to where it is when the time comes, please. Thanks.

While waiting, you can go to the Globe x Star Wars BGC Weekend this Dec. 12 to 13. Tune in for more details—this is going to be epic.

Globe Generation 3 stores are located at SM North EDSA, SM Megamall, Greenbelt 4, Limketkai Mall Cagayan de Oro, and Ayala Center Cebu. For more information, visit their website.  For more updates, visit their Facebook page, and follow them on Twitter and Instagram.
