An entirely different SMX Convention Centre greeted guests last September 28 as they were welcomed to the Globe DigiCity instead, a futuristic place where everything and everyone is connected by technology. Wonderful World with Globe (WWG), the telco’s quarterly event, showed us the incredible power of the new connected life. Aside from the generous freebies, here are 10 things that excited us during the event that we’re betting will get everyone’s hearts beating as well!
1. Google Chromecast
Because the home is the most important place in a Filipino’s life, family members can now get back to bonding over the biggest screen in the house: the TV. We can now “cast” our mobile or tablet screens onto the TV using the Google Chromecast device which plugs into the HDMI port of our televisions and activated using the Chromecast app. From games to photos and videos, many apps are now Chromecast-ready to provide us with a whole new level of entertainment.
2. Shopify
Through Globe myBusiness’ partnership with leading e-commerce platform Shopify, every Filipino can now be a business owner with their very own customized website. Shopify gives SMEs an opportunity to get their business online by allowing them to make their own online store. It provides entrepreneurs with unique templates as well as easier management with features that support better tracking and quicker response to orders. Business owners can avail of Shopify through Globe myBusiness for a low monthly fee of just P429 a month.
3. KonsultaMD
Not one to disregard a family’s health, Globe also introduced a new way of seeking medical advice. A fully operational telehealth service, KonsultaMD, gives customers access to licensed and skilled medical professionals. Should they need to consult health matters, it is now as quick as dialing the KonsultaMD hotline (02) 79880. The best part? the KonsultaMD hotline is open 24/7!
4. AdSpark
Since most of us reach for our mobile devices first thing in the morning and they stay in our hands for the most part of the day, it only makes sense for marketers to target our phones and tablets to better reach consumers like us. This is exactly what AdSpark does. From location-based SMS to display ads, they have done so much for their clientele and we have a feeling they’re going to do even more extraordinary things in the future!
5. sEATs
Going to our favorite restaurant and not getting a table or being made to wait may now be a thing of the past. With the new app called sEATs, we can now book that coveted table through our mobile phone. sEATs has a user-friendly interface and has over 65 restaurant partners in the metro. The sEATs app also informs users of good deals and promos that we can enjoy! How convenient is that?
6. GoCERY
In this new connected life, the most convenient way to do something is via an app. Illustrating this fact perfectly is the GoCERY app. Saving you the short and taxing trips to the grocery, GoCERY allows you to simply tap on the products you need and have it delivered right to your doorstep. Now all you have to do is kick back, relax and focus on your more important tasks.
7. HOOQ
Launched last February, online entertainment service HOOQ gave Filipinos access to a library of thousands of foreign and local tv and movie titles that can be enjoyed on their mobile phones. As Chromecast becomes available in the Philippines before the year ends, HOOQ has also made significant upgrades by being Chromecast-ready, so that customers can enjoy their content on the big screens. For only P149 a month, we have to admit that it’s a pretty good deal!
8. Globe-Google collaboration
More than bringing Chromecast to the country, we’re excited to see what else these two industry giants will come up with! That night, Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu, Senior Adviser for Consumer Business Dan Horan, and Google Philippines’ country manager Kenneth Lingan sealed the deal by “casting” the companies’ logos on the screen behind them.
Soon, Globe customers can get the Chromecast for free starting at Globe Home Broadband Plan 1299 with free access to HOOQ as well as across all Home Broadband Plans with free access to HOOQ and Spotify or the NBA League Pass.
Meanwhile, Platinum Home Broadband customers can avail of the Chromecast for free starting at Plan 3749 to Plan 9999 with free access to HOOQ, Spotify, and the NBA League Pass.
9. The interactive experience
All over the DigiCity were the brand booths that showcased a demo of all the products introduced in the event. This gave us a better way of understanding how they work. The partner booths included Zalora and Lazada that had their special offers for all the guests that evening. We also enjoyed playing the Crack the Code game where we had to scan QR codes to answer questions. Each correct answer earned us a chance to enter the raffle and win exciting prizes – from shopping sprees to 4K TVs and a trip to Singapore!
10. Sarah Geronimo’s performance
To end the night was no less than everyone’s favorite pop star princess, Sarah Geronimo. Just like Globe, the pop princess proved that night that she’s still at the top of her game through a powerful five-song set which was a mixture of pop covers and songs from her latest album.
By providing Filipinos with a new way to live a connected life, the latest digital products and services showcased during the event proved that it really is a wonderful world when you’re a Globe customer.
After Wonderful World with Globe 7, the only question left in our minds is, “Where to now, Globe?” We are definitely looking forward to WWG 8!
