“Resindipity,” the solo exhibition by Batangas artist Mischa, is ongoing at Reflections Gallery at Museo Orlina.

Sourced from the material resin and driven by the artist’s need to discover something unexpected, the works are relief-paintings with undulating surface evoking a cascade of drapery and laced with tangled webs of dribbled paint.

Kalinga-inspired art in HK

Karla Magbanua’s “Colouring through the Mind’s Eye” is ongoing until today, Oct. 31, at Restaurant Umami at Le Meridien Cyberport (100 Cyberport Road, Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong). Magbanua’s acrylic works tackle Filipino heritage and the vanishing art of the tattoo of the Kalinga cultural community.

‘The SyCips’ at Arte Pintura

 

“The SyCips” group show opens Nov. 5, at Arte Pintura Gallery. Guest of honor Washington SyCip will cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Participating artists are Addie SyCip Cukingnan, Alan SyCip, Emily Cheng, Helen Yuchengco Dee, Nena Frondoso, Stuart Yang, Ylaine Yang Co, Jill Qua, Sarah Huang, Amarene Frondoso.

There will be paintings of lotus blossoms, abstracts, portraits, sculptural-installation; subjects range from lotus flowers to anime culture.

Show runs until Nov. 22.

‘Colorscape’ at Ricco Renzo

Bebet Sto. Tomas opens her first solo exhibition, “Colorscape,” Nov. 10, at the Ricco Renzo Gallery.

Color, with its chromatic subtleties and emotional nuances, is the artist’s decisive interest in her landscapes and cityscapes.

PWU student wins Shell grand prize

 

Celebrated artist Juvenal Sansó admires Lance Valenzuela’s award-winning work, “Memento Mori: Daddy Rolly” as Philippine Women’s University (PWU) dean Don Amorsolo looks on. Valenzuela won the grand prize in the sculpture category of the 49th Shell National Students Art Competition. Romualdo Salazar and John Rex Dacaymat, also from PWU, were finalists in the painting category.

Art classes for street kids

 

Museo Pambata’s Children’s Art Festival: Art For All project gathered 70 street children for six Sundays, in art workshops facilitated by scholars from the Philippine High School for the Arts.

The festival, funded by Telus International Philippines, granted creative opportunities for poor children. It featured theater, music and dance performances, story reading and an art exhibition.
