For the selfie-obsessed generation, there’s a place where you’re welcome to preen. The three-month-old Selfie Café at 2/F, Robinsons Galleria lets guests enjoy their coffee and cupcake with a selfie—taken at the café or downloaded from the phone—and placed atop their drink.
This is made possible through a Real Image Maker (RIM) machine. The RIM machine prints the image on the flattened whipped cream of cold drinks. The sweeter part of this coffee experience is that the image is completely edible, as it is still part of the whipped cream or icing.
Mobile phone photos can be shared to the staff through basic sharing apps like SHAREit, Bluetooth, AirDrop and Messenger.
Cold caffeinated drinks to choose from include Mocha Blast, Vanilla Mode, Banana Caramel, Toffee Nut and Raspberry Mocha, among others (P165-P195). Noncoffee options include Mango Shuffle, Four Seasons, Banana Berry, Cookies and Cream and Strawberry Macaroon.
Cupcakes topped with selfies are ideal gifts and are among the cafe’s bestsellers. They come in red velvet, dark chocolate, matcha and carrot flavors.
Lawyer Pamela Felizarta, one of the owners of Selfie Café, said that the concept came from her kids and their friends.
“It sounded impossible and funny at first, but it became feasible. The kids worked out the process on how to put selfies on the drinks and presented it to us,” Felizarta said.
Selfie Café is co-owned by Dennis Chiu, Victor Siasat and Linda Gabriel.
“There is a personal touch in every product. Our customers are surprised and happy,” Chiu said.
Selfie Café is at 2/F, Robinsons Galleria, Edsa cor. Ortigas Ave., Ortigas Center, Quezon City.
