Miss Universe 2016 candidates dropped by the Philippine Navy headquarters on Roxas Boulevard on Thursday before they sailed for Pico de Loro in Batangas.
The beauty queens and the pageant organizers were given military honors and a red carpet was rolled out for them.
“Officers, enlisted personnel and civilian employees aboard the headquarters of the Philippine Navy were treated to a quick but momentous opportunity of having a closer look at the lovely ladies hailing from and representing different nations of the world,” said Navy public affairs office chief Captain Lued Lincuna.
The candidates, who were joined by Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, made a stop at the Navy headquarters before they boarded the M/Y Happy Life moored at the Commodore Divino Pier located inside the headquarters.
The Navy also deployed its elite unit, the Naval Special Operations Group, to escort and provide security for the yacht on its way to Batangas. RAM
