The Philippine Center of the International PEN (Poets & Playwrights, Essayists, Novelists) will launch Ericson Acosta’s “Mula Tarima Hanggang at Iba pang mga Tula at Awit” and other books by former political prisoners on Feb. 25, 3 p.m., at Solidaridad Bookstore, Padre Faura Street, Ermita, Manila.
Acosta was a political detainee at Calbayog provincial jail from 2011-2013 until his release due to petitions by PEN and several organizations. He founded the Alay Sining group at University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman .
Other books to be launched are “Hulagpos: Kalipunan ng mga Tula ng mga Bilanggong Pulitikal,” an anthology of poems; and “Antolohiya ng mga Makabayang Akda ni Randy Vegas” (the author is a former political prisoner from Bicol).
The book launch is organized by the Philippine PEN Writers in Prison Committee with the Task Force Free the Artists, Samahan ng mga Ex-Detainees Laban sa Detensyon at Aresto, Concerned Artists of the Philippines, UP Sentro ng Wikang Filipino-Diliman, FQS Movement, KM 64, at Karapatan.
The event is open to the public.
