In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Pan Pacific Manila, the Embassy and Consulate General of the Republic of Panama mounted a Panamanian dinner and cultural show at the hotel’s Pacific Lounge.
With an outstanding view of the city of Manila, VIP guests, members of the diplomatic and consular corps and media enjoyed a five-course meal prepared by young Panamanian chef Hector Herrera Palmer. He carefully selected the dishes that were paired with wines from Argentina and Chile, for an authentic Panamanian gastronomic experience.
Richard Masselin, general manager of Pan Pacific Manila, welcomed the guests. Panama Ambassador to the Philippines Rolando Guevara Alvarado praised the outstanding relations between the two countries. Such an evening should be remembered as the Panamanian “joy for life,” Guevara said. “Hoping that you return home with a little more knowledge of my small but vibrant country.”
The Pan Pacific Butler Chorale performed a fabulous repertoire of songs by Panamanian composers. Another highlight was the dance number of the Te Maeva dance group, and the post-dessert performance of host and singer Jay Marquez of The Company.
Adding glamour to the evening were the candidates for Miss Earth 2018 from Panama, Mexico, Venezuela, Guatemala and Argentina. —CONTRIBUTED
