MANILA, Philippines – The Hiyas ng Turismo Pilipinas Foundation has chosen to donate to charity the proceeds from the inaugural edition of the Hiyas ng Pilipinas pageant, which will be staged at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino on March 27.
The organizers said they have chosen Missionaries of the Poor, Little Lambs, and Asilo de la Milagrosa as the charity organizations to benefit from the proceeds of the first Cebu-based national pageant.
Thirty-five ladies from all over the country were chosen to participate in Hiyas ng PIlipinas pageant’s maiden edition.
“We are extremely delighted with how people responded on our calling for the empowered ladies across the country in the search for the first Hiyas Ng Pilipinas,” the foundation said.
The organizers said the pageant aims to crown women with amplified voices, who possess strength, and will serve as “catalysts of beauty, culture and humanity.”
They said they will do everything to make the ladies feel as if they are already queens, while promising a fair and just competition. “We will make sure they will go back to their hometowns with great stories to tell,” the foundation added.
The foundation also promised a world-class pageant production for the coronation ceremonies.
The pageant will choose the Philippines’ representatives to the Miss Tourism World, Miss Elite, and Miss Tourism Queen International pageants.
Shannon Tampon has already been chosen to represent the Philippines in the Miss Elite pageant this year. The national pageant will crown next year’s delegate.
Tampon was supposed to represent the country late last year, but the international tilt was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her appointment as the Philippines’ first representative to Miss Elite remained because requirements from the delegate had to be sent earlier than the scheduled staging of the Hiyas ng Pilipinas pageant finals.
The local pageant veteran will compete in the second edition of the Miss Elite pageant in Egypt in June.
