Marie Jamora’s new short film is called “A Song For Myself.” Set in the mid-90s Las Vegas, the film follows an OFW lounge singer, who’s unable to decide between settling for a stable job and following her dream as a musician. This is a story Marie molded as part of American Film Institute’s Directing Workshop for Women. In this prestigious 40-year-old program, Marie is the first Filipina to ever take part in it. She’s following the footsteps of DWW’s alumni poet/activist Maya Angelou, The Walking Dead’s Tricia Brock, Jessica Jones’ Jennifer Getzinger, and Star Trek: Discovery’s Hanelle M. Culpepper.

Right now, Marie’s crowdfunding for her film. She has reached her goal of $30,000, but she’s stretching her goal to $40,000 for expenses such as set building, sound mixing, lenses, and the like.
