Filipino Designer Francis Libiran Felt Surprised to See His Dress at the Oscars | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

The Oscars just ended, and aside from the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio finally won that Best Actor award, everyone’s still talking about the stunning fashion that graced the red carpet. Designer Francis Libiran, in particular, still seems to be reeling from the sight of one of his creations being worn by Twilight actress Nikki Reed when she attended Elton John’s Oscars viewing party last night with her husband Ian Somerhalder.

Inquirer.net reports that upon seeing the dress, Francis posted on his Instagram account, “OMG!! I’m so thrilled to see one of my favorite stars, Nikki Reed, wearing my creation at the Oscars!!!”

Preen also had a chat with Francis and his team, and they said that they were all surprised when they saw Nikki wearing the dress from his latest collection.

“We have a showroom in LA where Hollywood celebrities usually go with their stylists to select gowns for them to wear. That’s where we got the chance to dress up celebrities like Gwen Stefani, Angela Basset, and now, Nikki,” he explains. “We got a heads up that she was going to wear it at the Oscars, but we were still so surprised when we finally saw it.”

In another post, Francis described the dress she was wearing during the 24th Annual AIDS Foundation Oscars viewing party, which was a nude-toned “fully-embroidered semi-serpentina gown.” Her dark hair and lipstick definitely complemented the dress’ subtle color.

He adds that this milestone is not only his, but also the Philippines’. “[My] goal is to bring pride to the Philippines so all the appearances [of my designs] in Hollywood are all for the country,” he tells us.

Well, we’re surely excited to see what’s next for Francis. Maybe next awards season we’ll see more of his creations being worn by muses like, let’s say, Jennifer Lawrence or Angelina Jolie. The possibilities are endless.
