Day 9 of quarantine: BTS teaches us Korean | Lifestyle.INQ

Oppa and annyeong won’t be the only Korean words you’ll know from now on. In our second of week quarantine, everyone is trying to adjust to their new normal. Work from home, online classes, the absence of the outdoors, and everything in between. 

And on quarantine day nine, the K-pop group BTS decided to teach us Korean 101 online. It sounds like someone’s BTS Teacher!AU came true. 

This is the perfect hobby for K-pop fans out there. Starting Mar. 24, Learn Korean with BTS is now a program available on Weverse, a community platform for BTS stans. It will feature 30 episodes spanning from three minutes each. They launched three new episodes on the platform, while the next episodes will come every Monday at 9 p.m. KST (Korean Standard Time).

Professor Heo Yong of Hankuk University and researchers at the Korea Language Contents Institute devised the curriculum for this language podcast. Plus, this is free for everyone—you just need to create a Weverse account. 

“There are many fans who can’t enjoy Big Hit content to the fullest due to the language barrier,” says Big Hit’s founder Bang Si-Hyuk. “Foreign media point out that there is ‘more demand for learning Korean thanks to K-pop,’ but there are only limited ways our fans could learn Korean with ease.”
