Prove transphobes wrong, support Jennifer Laude through a virtual drag show | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

It’s not rocket science to know that acceptance of the trans community still has a long way to go. Especially in this country. To make matters worse, Joseph Scott Pemberton, the convicted killer of Jennifer Laude, is now walking free.

Frankly, the ongoing saga of Pemberton’s case is one of the many reasons why transphobia is still alive in 20 fucking 20. The more transphobes tell us to “move on,” the more we should remember—and talk about—what happened.

In honor of Jennifer Laude, Bahaghari National is holding a free online drag show called “Para Kay Ganda.” The Filipino LGBTQ+ organization announced this yesterday, Sept. 28, inviting everyone to join on Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. More information is yet to be announced.

In an interview this year, content creator and activist Gigi Esguerra told us, “Let’s try our best for better trans representation and let’s raise the visibility of transgender people. Because the more people understand us and see our humanity, the more they will be empathetic to our cause.”
