Britney Spears: not a girl, not yet a woman, but a full-fledged artist. In 2017, every ’90s kid’s favorite pop star turned into the artist to watch out for, thanks to a video Britney posted featuring herself painting on a canvas. Two years later, things are getting serious—a French art gallery has announced that the singer’s work will be featured as part of her first solo exhibition.

Named after Britney’s original Instagram caption, the exhibition will be titled “Sometimes you just gotta play!!!!!!”. “We’re thrilled to announce that we will be opening @britneyspears first solo show in a contemporary art gallery on Saturday January 18 2020, from 6 to 9 p.m.,” Galerie Sympa’s Instagram post states, paired with a string of emojis and hashtags like #britneybitch and #artsyfartsy.
The original painting was sold for $10,000 on a charity auction to Robin Leach, host of “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.” Proceeds went to the victims of the Root 91 Harvest music festival shooting. “The flowers in my painting represent a new beginning, and it’s in that spirit that we move forward,” Britney reportedly said in a video message shown at the benefit auction.

Some art enthusiasts fly 6,000 miles to see the “Mona Lisa” in the Louvre. So is it any wonder if fans just might travel to see Britney Spears’ whimsical and brush stroke-heavy artwork for themselves? If you’re one of the latter, Galerie Sympa is located in the southwestern village of Figeac, France, with the exhibition running “till the world ends.” No rush there.
