Watch ‘Weathering With You’ and more Japanese films for free at this festival | Lifestyle.INQ

Call your otaku friends, because Japan Film Week is back. For its third iteration, we’re getting free screenings of the critically acclaimed Shinkai Makoto film “Weathering With You” and a lot more.

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is teaming up with the Japan Foundation, Manila again for Japan Film Week 2020. The five-day affair is a celebration of Japanese culture by making it accessible through free screenings of a selection of their seminal contemporary films. All the films will be presented with their original audio intact, so get ready to read subtitles.

 Aside from “Weathering,” other featured films are Mari Okada’s award-winning “Maquiao: When the Promised Flower Blooms,” Yoon Mia’s Great East Japan earthquake documentary “Life Goes On,” Shimbou Akiyuki and Takeuchi Nobuyuki’s “Fireworks,” Fukatsu Mazakatsu’s drama “Dad’s Lunch Box,” Kosaka Kitaro’s “Okko’s Inn,” and Keita Meguro’s “The Tears of Malumpati”.

Japan Film Week will happen at Cinematheque Centre Davao from Jan. 27 to Jan. 31, Cinematheque Centre Manila from Feb. 26 to 29, then culminate at Cinematheque Centre Iloilo from Mar. 2 to 5.
