Martin, the 17-year-old group leader, is a Canadian-South Korean singer and is involved in Cortis’s song production. His passion for music was inspired by Tyler, The Creator and Mac Miller.
The oldest member at 19, James, is a Thai-Hong Kongese dance prodigy from Taipei. He is a singer and songwriter who has worked alongside Martin prior to Cortis’s debut.
Juhoon, 17 years old and a prior youth model, explained that the group’s name is an acronym for “Color Outside the Lines,” representing limitless creative freedom within the youth.
Seonghyeon, 16, is the soft-spoken South Korean singer from Seo-gu, Daejeon, as well as the group’s topliner.
Last but not least, Keonho is the youngest member at 16, from the Gyeonggi Province of South Korea.
According to BigHit, the debut single conveys the group’s vision “to claim what they want without hesitation.”
As artists, the five members are inspired by the hip-hop culture and boy bands they grew up with.
“Go!” is Cortis’s first song release, which premiered last Aug. 10. Along with “What You Want,” both songs will be a part of their upcoming album “Color Outside the Lines,” set for Sept. 8.
