Don’t sleep on the new Manila Grey x James Reid MV - SCOUT

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Fridays don’t feel like Fridays anymore, but Manila Grey and James Reid’s fresh collab has a quick fix. Temporarily filling in the gap of carefree night rides and some vibing at the club? They got you covered.

Dropped just today, Mar. 5, the “Backhouse Ballin’” music video is proof that the Filipino-Canadian duo and the “Soda” singer joining forces is a good idea. Their night vision looks like this: ’90s arcade game graphics, the right amount of neon lights and a sonic adventure. Add in the chill beats  and Neeko and Soliven’s fascinating vocals, and we’re ready to go.

Directed by Brandon William Fletcher, “Backhouse Ballin’” treads between the comfort of meeting friends on a spontaneous night and the thrill of meeting strangers just before leaving the place. It all gets more intriguing once James Reid enters the frame—complete with surrealist pop art energy—filling in the soundscape with his distinct manner of dropping lines (as if they all sum up an honest confession).

“We’re going everywhere. Trust that we’ll be globetrotting when that time comes. Honestly, we just miss seeing and performing for the fans,” Soliven told us in an interview. While waiting for that, can we get those Manila Grey playing cards fr fr?
