VP Robredo’s delivery app to help small-scale vendors, tricycle drivers now available in Pasig | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

The online delivery service mobile app named Community Mart, which was developed by the Office of Vice President (OVP) Leni Robredo, is now available in Pasig under a partnership with the city government.

Helping both residents who need food items delivered to their homes as well as small market vendors and tricycle drivers, whose means of livelihood have been affected by quarantine restrictions, the online service works by letting people place orders through the app. These goods will then be sourced from small market vendors and delivered by tricycle drivers participating in the project.

A same-day delivery option is available for orders before its cutoff at 12 noon, except for meat and seafood, which have earlier order cutoffs at 10 a.m. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Orders are to be paid in cash upon delivery.

Community Mart first launched in Quezon City with a pilot run at the Kamuning Market. Offering services to nearby barangays like Sacred Heart, Laging Handa, South Triangle, Obrero, Paligsahan, Pinagkaisahan and Roxas District, the initiative was able to generate over P500,000 in sales during its first week.

For its expansion in Pasig, Community Mart will be purchasing goods from the Pasig Mega Market. As of now, it will be servicing areas in the city that are far from the Pasig Mega Market: Ugong Proper-Valle Verde, Kapitolyo, Oranbo, Pineda, San Antonio-Ortigas area, Rosario Proper-Rosario dulo, Santa Lucia Proper-Santa Lucia/Dela Paz boundary, Santa Lucia/Cainta boundary and De La Paz-Dela Paz/Santolan boundary. Community Mart app’s service is also open to residents of Manggahan, Santolan and Maybunga.

The OVP, in a Facebook post, said they will continue to work to expand the areas that will be covered by the service.

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto also told Inquirer that “this is an innovative idea that potentially hits three birds with one stone.”

“It will provide a source of income for tricycle drivers who have few passengers right now, increase the sales of our vendors, while minimizing the number of close contacts that buyers have,” said Sotto.
