A friend once told me shortly after I gave birth to my second child, “When there’s only you, you’re single. When there are two, you’re a wife. When there are three, you’re a mother. And when there are four, you’re a referee.” I would have forgotten her comment were it not for tonight’s episode of what I call the “Adriana and Juanmi Show: Never a dull moment!”
It wasn’t Taco’s first time to dress up—like, really dress up. The five-year-old male chihuahua has worn formal wear before. On this overcast afternoon, Taco looked very dapper and sharp in his maroon tuxedo. And he smiled for the camera, too.
Have you ever had one of those days? You know, when you leave the house without giving a thought to how you look, then suddenly, you run into a fellow mom and you wonder how she manages to look so well put together all the time?
Being pregnant in our country is such a treat. At the first sign of a baby bump, everyone rushes to offer you their chair or assist you in carrying whatever you are struggling with. This would also help in my goal of pulling the kids away from too much time on TV, computers and video games.
I was going to write about some resolutions for the new year, but quickly realized that I still had more than enough left to accomplish from my old list! I decided to review the past year and instead, share 11 things that I learned in 2011.
This is probably a very appropriate topic to start this year’s series. Since we have just finished the gift-giving frenzy of the holidays, it is an opportune time to discuss gratitude.
On a typical morning in the home of Rommel and Catrina “Cat” Ramos at Mahogany Village in Taguig, Rizal, a little girl is painting.
‘Let our kids be kids and make sure they enjoy their childhood’ “Wala kasi kaming New Year’s resolution. We just aim to improve ourselves each time. Like I still work on living healthy and I encourage my sons to do the same. Take up swimming seriously. Be there for my two boys, but at the same time give them more independence because they’re adults now—one is working already and the other’s graduating.”—Ruby Gan
