SAN FRANCISCO—Overseas trips are full of the unexpected—new scenery, new friends and great new food. This time, our TV show “Foodprints” took me to Prince Edward Island in Canada.
We went to Calgary as guests of Canada beef industry leaders. Since my sister Bels is in Vancouver, I decided to fly there before heading to Calgary to shed off some jet lag and discover food places.
Of all cuisines the one I love most is American fare. The portions are large, and many of the selections are comfort food to me. And in most chains, food is consistent in taste, the atmosphere is always jolly and the service staff have personalities in tune with the mood of the place.
