The chefs forgot my order! | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

What started us on a great anticipation for a happy meal turned out into a nightmare as the chefs forgot to cook our order.

Our company was halfway into their meals when we realized that nothing was coming from the kitchen anymore. Poor us was salivating, but our patience ran out and we hollered!

Designer Blooms Café

Cluster 2, Unit 11 A, Molito Commercial Complex, Madrigal Ave., Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City. Tel. nos. 8089569/5536978.

They go by the tagline “freshly picked, freshly prepared.” But then their chefs forgot to prepare what we wanted for lunch.

Dining area—The combined scents of  the fresh blooms arrest the senses. Good. The restaurant designer must have used all the old furniture in the owner’s bodega—perhaps to create a comfortable homey ambiance—huge arm chairs with seats done in suliya, a glass tabletop resting on an old Singer sewing machine, a collection of various mirrors of different shapes, and of course, the flower shop on one side of the tiny resto.

But feast your eyes on the pretty blooms, because you can’t feast on the food, much less the service.

Service—Be sure the chefs do not forget your order as they did ours. There were two of them, visible from the tiny kitchenette. A lean man who kept on chewing on something and a plumpish young lady, who gave us the horrid look of someone who had swallowed the treasure when reminded of our order. Our companions were nearly done with their meals when our patience ran out and we hollered for our Potato Salad.

That was another matter—the Soupy Salad.

Staff—Apart from the chefs, there was a  young man attending to diners, who apologized on behalf of the chefs.

Suggested menu—To start with, most of those listed on the blackboard were not available. I ordered Potato Salad, which was not quite a salad but a soup as the potatoes were swimming in a creamy sauce. What a let-down after they made me wait patiently for nearly half an hour.

The Lasagna was served on a soup plate. The other pasta dish was so-so. The cakes were good, cheese and chocolate, but no compensation for the rest.

Maybe they should stick to flowers.

Service and government charges are added to the bill. Senior cards are not honored on promo meals.
