Watch lovers, consider this an early Christmas treat. Until Oct. 31, get a 40-percent discount on a new watch when you trade in your old Technomarine for a new one. Even better, your old watch will be fixed and donated to Philippine Coast Guard members who do relief and rescue operations.

According to Technomarine assistant brand manager Jan Paz, this function-meets-purpose trade-in is a first for the watch house.

“We wanted to give back, so we looked for an organization with a similar focus. The Philippine Coast Guard does rescue operations during typhoons and works on preserving marine life, and we wanted to work with them.”

THE ULTIMATE Technomarine Trade-Up campaign is ongoing until Oct. 31.

The Ultimate Technomarine Trade-Up campaign is ongoing until Oct. 31. Any authentic Technomarine watch—working and nonworking—may be traded-in as long as the case and mechanism are there. One may bring the unit to Technomarine branches or to its partner establishments, Washington and My Diamond watch shops, for assessment.

If the watch could still be refurbished, the customer immediately gets a 40-percent discount on any 2012 Technomarine models.

Paz said around 300 pieces are expected to be traded-in. Philippine Coast Guard Vice Commandant for Administration Lino Dabi said that the Coast Guard, “which is a multimission maritime service [whose] personnel put their lives in the line while performing their duties,” could make good use of the watches.

The Coast Guard’s performance depends on “how fast and prompt a response can be made,” he added.

“The Technomarine brand is deeply related to the marine world, and being water-based is part of our DNA,” he added. “We invite Technomarine fans to get an upgrade and participate in a worthy cause.”

Edgy and sexy

Technomarine watches are usually associated with outdoor activities such as diving, boating and cruising. These waterproof watches are for the active and the fashionable. Designs range from edgy to sexy, with colors from basic black to jewel pink.

The watches are especially popular among young professionals and businessmen in their 30s, Paz said, with the Cruise Original as the global bestseller.

The classic model that “started it all” for Technomarine has soft, silicone straps available in different colors. A change of straps instantly gives the watch a new look, Paz said.
