Once a year I take off for a while to study, recharge and reconnect with myself. I thought the trip this year wasn’t going to happen because of a health scare back in February. Thank God, I was given clearance and so here I am wide-eyed, sleepless on my first night in San Francisco.
Traveling can be full of pitfalls if one doesn’t plan well enough. One wrong move and your trip can be ruined.

A family with two toddlers boarded a Manila-bound bus from Baguio recently. The toddlers spent the entire six-hour trip screaming, screeching, hollering, crying and fighting.
There is something totally exhilarating about coming home. No matter how tired you are or how long the travel time, finally getting home feels like a shot of energy driven directly into the heart.
My resolution this year is to see more of my own country. In the past, traveling abroad was the thing to do, with domestic travel reserved for those doing business or visiting their provincial hometowns.
Today was pretty normal—I woke up, made coffee, turned on my playlist, and wrote on my journal. Looking out the window, I saw my neighbor doing some serious tai chi; it wasn’t my usual bustling Makati scenery.
