MANILA, Philippines—The Makati Regional Trial Court has granted the appeal of television host Kris Aquino for a permanent protection order (PPO) against basketball star James Yap, but has allowed the latter to see his son, lawyer Lorna Kapunan said Wednesday.

Kapunan, counsel for the cager of San Mig Coffee Mixers, said  Kris, the youngest sister of President Benigno Aquino III, filed two appeals for a PPO. “One was for Kris Aquino and the other was filed in behalf of their son, Bimby. The court granted the first but denied the latter,” Kapunan said over the phone.

This means Yap can visit his son but he has to stay away from Kris—not within 100 meters of her, according to the Makati court rulings dated

May 21.

“The court said it was in the best interest of the child to allow both parents to see him growing up,” Kapunan said.

According to the arrangement, Yap can visit his son from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and 4 p.m. on Fridays up to Saturdays.
