That woman of substance and style, Dr. Vicki Belo, recently gathered the beautiful people from the medical, entertainment and social sets for an exclusive sit-down dinner with world-renowned skin health expert Dr. Zein Obagi, dahlings, at the grand ballroom of Raffles and Fairmont Hotel.
Dr. Obagi made time to circulate and chat about his two new skin systems, the ZO Skin Health System (for daily skin maintenance) and ZO Medical System, designed for skin-health restoration therapy. The dinner was superbly prepared by the hotel’s talented chefs and was complemented by overflowing wine and bubbly champagne, palanggas.
The highlight of the event was the introduction of four personalities chosen to represent the ZO brand: ageless diva Zsa Zsa Padilla, Dr. Vicki’s vivacious daughter Cristalle Belo Henares, the stunningly beautiful Philippine National Red Cross national governor Joanne Zapanta-Andrada, and former ZO Skin Health Philippines operations manager and Hayden Fragrances owner Hayden Kho.
ZO Skin Health Systems and ZO Medical Systems are prescribed by top dermatologists nationwide, palanggas. (For more info, visit www.zoskinhealth.com.ph or call tel. 8876385.)
Kasbah’s first anniversary
Kasbah, the fab restaurant that brought fabulous Moroccan midnight dinners on New Year’s Eve to Boracay, then opened at The Fort in Bonifacio City, recently celebrated its first anniversary with a last-of-summer beach bash that had rockin’ music, fine food and unstoppable fun.
Kasbah’s owners, the always-perfect hosts Martin and Madonna English, conceptualized the original and very successful Kasbah, located in Boracay’s Station 1. It even got a mention on CNN recently, palanggas. Its Manila celebration managed to transform The Fort Strip’s concrete walkway into a magical Boracay beach strip.
The mix of sumptuous Moroccan food, soft sand, sunbrellas and shorts kept the mood relaxed and easy as everyone knocked back a cold Corona or two at sunset. Beachy beats played all night and until the wee hours of the morning, by an array of hip and funky DJs such as DJ Matt Lowe, Kasbah co-owner Marshall White, Abdel Aziz, Jay-Ar Alcantara, Kevin Ruiz and DJ Herbie.
A quick shower cooled the place, but it was also the signal for more action. Belo gave away goodie bags to the beach bodies, and that hot bartender, Brit import Anthony White, did a scorching bartending exhibition. Fire dancers also performed on the patio as we sipped endless Boracay-inspired cocktails.
This was one happening to remember—a toast to the last days of summer and a look forward to more exciting offerings from the Kasbah team, dahlings.
Kasbah Restaurant & Bar is at the G/F, The Fort Strip, Bonifacio, Taguig. Seating Capacity: over 100 guests. Call tel. 5534499 or 0917-2058802.

General store for men
At the newly opened General store in Bonifacio High Street Central, men with taste can find clothes that would help define them as the successful, self-made individuals they are, palanggas.
The store carries a wide variety of menswear and accessory brands under one roof, aimed specifically at men of distinction.
At the launch, host Vanessa Pagharion welcomed us before engaging in a quick talk with entrepreneur, triathlete and Primer Group’s AVP for marketing services division Raoul Floresca, who said: “The origin and the inspiration behind General are the store’s brands, which include Victorinox, Lyle & Scott, Boxfresh and Tretorn, representing different aspects of the General man.”
Travel Magazine editor in chief Monique Buensalido then took the spotlight, saying that her publication’s tie-up with General “has two brands that are a natural fit for each other.”
The man of the hour was top designer Robert Alejandro, dahlings, also known as “the Sketching Backpacker for his illustrated travel journals.” Robert lent his unique vision to the store’s design and chic interiors. Several of his sketches also adorn its walls and display cases.
A highlight was when he gave the night’s best-dressed man and woman on-the-spot watercolor sketches. Paul Chuapoco and Ina Arabia-Garcia were the lucky ones who received the one-of-a-kind pieces.
Check out General, palanggas! For more info, e-mail [email protected].
