PSA: Gov’t wants to know how it can help business owners, MSMEs | F&B Report

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Ever since the month-long community quarantine in Metro Manila that began on Mar. 15 and then later enhanced to cover the entire Luzon was announced, businesses—especially those in foodservice—were bracing for its impact.

And for good reason: Shutdowns can leave micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in a precarious state with expected revenue losses, an inability to sustain daily wage for workers or worse, the reality of permanently closing down the business itself.

Understanding the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) on MSMEs and consumers, the Interagency Task Force-Technical Working on Anticipatory and Forward Planning led by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) has rolled out two surveys on social media—one for business owners and another for consumers—that will help determine the best possible action plans, policies, and programs to “get the economy back on track” according to NEDA Chief and Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia.

The survey for business owners, in partnership with the Boston Consulting Group, intends to understand the “experience and needs” of MSMEs under ECQ. The recommendations based on the survey will enable the government to design “appropriate policies and programs to mitigate loss and help the Philippine economy recover.”

Click here to fill out the survey. Deadline for submission is on Apr. 5, Sunday.
