New York Fashion Week has officially begun and while we couldn’t be more excited to review the fashion—that’s coming up soon!—we decided to whet your palate first by rounding up the top news stories so far.
DKNY’s new logo unveiled
Expect a new look for the iconic New York brand. When the company sent out invites for their first NYFW show without Donna Karan on Sept. 16, they featured a reimagined DKNY logo in Franklin Gothic lettering.
Since the appointment of Public School’s founders Dai-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne back in April, the fashion industry has been abuzz with curiosity as to how they will continue the legacy that Donna started in 1984.
The logo, of course, is just the first step, but a significant one. Franklin Gothic is “a bold American font,” Maxwell explains. The lettering, writes WWD’s Bridget Foley, “is positioned as a horizontal block, bracketed by two other blocks formed by a thin black ribbon threaded through slits, the ribbon signifying sensuality. Together, the three read as graphic dashes intended to reference the markings on city streets.”

Kanye West’s collab with Adidas doesn’t come cheap
While we still don’t know if Kanye will be making a return to Adidas for spring 2016, his Kanye West x adidas Originals Yeezy Season 1 fall/winter 2015 collection is set to hit stores soon.
Wondering how much damage it’ll do your credit card? The short answer is, plenty.
Japanese fashion magazine SENSE published an editorial featuring nearly all pieces from the line, along with the prices of each item. Since this is Kanye, and the Westian mentality dictates that he go big or go home crying to Kim, it shouldn’t be any surprise that even the most basic pieces from the line will make your wallet cry.
A jersey tank is $160 (the cheapest item in the line), and a “Destroyed Sweater” rings in at $2,260 (the most expensive item). Yowza.

Twitter releases first cycle of #NYFW emojis!
Feeling kind of bummed about the fact that NYFW is happening all the way over there while you’re stuck over here in Manila? Twitter is doing something to let all NYFW spectators, whether IRL or online, participate in the fashion by launching custom emojis!
Whenever you use the hashtags #NYFW and #FashionFlock, one of these emojis will appear at the end of your tweet!
And that’s not all. Rachel Dodes, Twitter’s head of fashion partnerships, blogged that “The emojis and hashtags will change throughout the week, so we’re encouraging fashion lovers to Tweet to see the rotation of images.” Yep, that’s right: more emojis!
“In addition to emojis adding fun and excitement to your Tweets, designers will be showcasing a behind-the-scenes look of their shows with Twitter Mirrors stationed backstage, live-looks of the runway with Periscope broadcasts, and more,” she continues.
Looks like Twitter is looking to steal some thunder from Instagram as the unofficial social media platform of choice for Fashion Week. Will they be successful? It remains to be seen, but this is clear: everyone loves a good emoji.
