Qatar Airways held the grand launch of its nonstop daily flights to Clark International Airport in Pampanga with a gala dinner at the popular Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.
This new route is the company’s second in the country après Manila International Airport.
Hosted by ANC news channel’s Lexi Schulze, the excellent event drew many VIPs from different sectors in our society.
Qatar Airways was led by its senior vice president for commercial operations, Woo Yew Seong. Also present were Qatar Airways country manager Abdallah Okasha and Ramon “Monch” Cruz, SVP for public affairs and business development of Weber Shandwick.
Top guests included Qatar Ambassador Jassim A. Al Obaidli and Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Crescente R. Relacion.
Providing entertainment were bossa nova singer Sitti Navarro and a quartet from the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, dahlings.
The raffle drew lucky winners, all from the travel industry to the disappointment of some guests. Winners would have the chance to fly via Qatar Airways to any of the following: London, New York, Barcelona, Cape Town, Dubai, Paris and São Paulo.
Prior to the dinner, flight QR930 touched down at Clark International Airport at 09:20 local time to a traditional water salute welcome.

Makeup contest
The Professional Artist Cosmetics Philippines announced the top three winners of its 2013 Contemporary Makeup Competition: Aryan Ang, Jefferson de Guzman and Veronica Maclang-Pena.
They were part of Team PAC Philippines who represented the country in the International Makeup Competition in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The finals, held at the Atrium of SM North Edsa The Block, featured the Top 5 finalists. They were given only 10 minutes to complete their avant garde makeup.
The finalists used PAC products in creating their masterpieces, in particular the newly launched Liquid Eyeliner Color, Eyeshadow Pencil Duo and PAC’s Professional Face Painting products.
Après the 10-minute mark, the PMAP models, all in Francis Libiran gowns, walked the runway.
Jurors included Teddy Lim, PAC Martha Tilaar’s International makeup artist; Jen Delica and Angelo Justin; and gorgeous Abbygale Arenas and Miriam Quiambao.
The three winners won an all-expense-paid trip to Jakarta, P25,000 in PAC products, and intensive training by professionals from PAC Philippines and PAC Martha Tilaar Indonesia.
Christmas bazaar
The St James Greatest Christmas Bazaar is now on its 22nd year. It will be held Nov. 29-Dec. 1, 9 a.m.9 p.m., at Cuenca Community Center and St. James parking lot in Ayala Alabang Village. Entrance is free.
With more than 500 concessionaires, the bazaar is the biggest of its kind south of Manila.
The favorite Food Pavilion, dahlings, has the participation of popular eateries such as Las Paellas, Tapa King, Barrio Fiesta, Ineng’s Special BBQ and Coolman Halo-Halo, natch.
