Looking for ways to support PWD-owned businesses? Here’s an online trade fair you can visit | F&B Report

OCTOBER 27, 2022

In line with the celebration of the 42nd National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Resource Generation and Management Service (RGMS), will be staging the very first online trade fair for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) owned by persons with disability (PWD).

Done in partnership with the Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion (BDTP), the Knowledge Management and Information Service (KMIS), and the Regional Operations Group (ROG), the Biz-Ability Online Trade Fair “aims to give persons with disability entrepreneurs the initial exposure and experience to sell their products online through well-known and big platforms amid the pandemic.” MSMEs that are owned by a PWD or employ one will join the fair. There are already six MSMEs expected to join and more will be added during the onboarding process.

DTI’s Trade Promotions Group Undersecretary Abdulgani M. Macatoman says that due to the postponement of national trade events such as the National Food Fair and National Trade Fair, online trade fairs will greatly promote Filipino entrepreneurs and their products. Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez is looking forward to the success of Biz-Ability Online Trade Fair PWD-owned MSMEs as this advances inclusivity and empowerment.

“We continue to give support to our persons with disability entrepreneurs in every way we can. The online trade fair we have developed especially for them shows that we acknowledge and value the hard work and dedication they put in creating their products and services,” says Ameenah A. Fajardo, DTI-Person With Disability focal person.

Biz-Ability Online Trade Fair will run from July 30 to Aug. 12. Visit DTI-BDTP’s Facebook page for the MSME offerings.
