BEAUTIFUL wedding ceremony of Sean Anthony and Teresa Herrera in Boracay Island
BEAUTIFUL wedding ceremony of Sean Anthony and Teresa Herrera in Boracay Island

After attending the beautiful wedding of Sean Anthony and Teresa Herrera in Boracay last week, I can truly say that love is in the air.

But relationships are not just about husbands and wives. In this decade, relationships cover a vast continuum of genders and inclinations. Even gay relationships are no longer a shocker. The more interesting shades are those in the middle, such as a man in love with a woman and a man at the same time.

‘Cock’

That’s the exact relationship explored in the play “Cock,” the second offering from the young yet powerful theatrical company Red Turnip.

“Cock” is a play by Mike Bartlett that first premiered in London in 2009.

It’s about a gay couple whose rocky relationship derails when one of them sleeps, and falls in love, with a woman. Debates over sexual identity explode in the “ultimate bitch fight” dinner.

At the premiere, the audience included a powerhouse of press, celebrities and theater actors like Bart Guingona, Michael Williams and Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo. All gave the cast a standing ovation at the end.

The local production of “Cock” is directed by Rem Zamora, and stars Topper Fabregas, Niccolo Manahan, Jenny Jamora and Audie Gemora. The production is sponsored by Fila.

Supporting the arts has become one of Fila’s numerous advocacies, spearheaded by its president, gorgeous Cris Albert.

The Fila gala premiere of “Cock” opened with Red Turnip’s head trio, Rem Zamora, Cris Villonco and Ana Abad Santos, welcoming guests and thanking them for their support.

Fila endorser Wesley Pereira with beautiful girlfriend Luana Ayumi, PR queen Susan Joven and Swatch grand dame Virgie Ramos were all impressed with the extremely brilliant performances.

Fresh off the success of its critically acclaimed “Closer” last October at Whitespace, Red Turnip promises another unique, in-your-face theatrical experience with “Cock.” Red Turnip aims to engage theatergoers with the sort of material that seems to be in short supply in the country—the straight play.

Another thing that is not in short supply at Red Turnip Theater is alcohol. Ralph’s and Speakeasy sponsored overflowing drinks that the audience freely drank inside Whitespace.

Bose speakers provided excellent sound and audio for the theater. On display were the latest models of wireless speakers and earphones.

“Cock” is staged at Whitespace, 2314 Chino Roces Ave. Ext., Makati City. The production runs until April 6, with a special closing gala that day at 8 p.m. Red Turnip’s Facebook page lists all playdates, and tickets are available through Ticketworld.

Dream big at Wilcon

Speaking of relationships, although this one is neither gay nor bisexual, but more on the business side, I have started one with Wilcon Depot as its brand ambassador. At the ongoing Worldbex exhibition at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, Wilcon has a huge showroom with displays of its brand partners like Franke and Grohe.

Wilcon Depot launched its newest promo, dubbed “Dream Big and Win Big at Wilcon,” at Chef Jessie’s 100 Revolving Restaurant in Libis, Quezon City. Five new Mercedes-Benz B180 sedan cars await five lucky winners in the chain’s grandest promo ever. Thousands of Wilcon gift certificates will also be given away to lucky Wilcon shoppers.

William Belo, president of Wilcon, expressed his heartfelt gratitude toward the attendees for the continued support they have been giving the company. He also added that the promo aims to thank the company’s loyal customers for making Wilcon the consistently preferred home-building store in the country.

Rosemarie Ong, COO of Wilcon, said that promotions like “Dream Big and Win Big” are just one of the many projects Wilcon has in store for its customers in line with the company’s upcoming 40th year in the business.

The “Dream Big and Win Big” promo is ongoing at all Wilcon Depot and Home Essentials branches nationwide until Dec. 30. A minimum single-receipt purchase worth P5,000 at any Wilcon store is required to get a raffle coupon. The five raffle draws for the Mercedes-Benz are scheduled on May 19, July 16, Sept. 8 and Nov. 10, and Jan. 9, 2015.

Johnny’s thanksgiving

Top event host Johnny Litton has been part of the Wilcon family for many years now. The society columnist and original icon of late-night talk shows recently hosted a thanksgiving party in appreciation of his roster of satisfied clients and well-meaning friends.

Tito Johnny held the party at the elegant Champagne Room of the legendary Manila Hotel. The sought-after emcee welcomed his special guests, including Manila Hotel president Joey Lina, Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario and his wife Gretchen, and distinguished Ambassadors Philip Goldberg of the US, Massimo Roscigno of Italy and Ivo Sieber of Switzerland.

TOPPER Fabregas, Niccolo Manahan, Jenny Jamora, Audie Gemora

Loida Nicolas-Lewis, Filipino-American community leader and New York businesswoman and philanthropist, graced the elegant affair to honor the quintessential master of ceremonies. The wonderful evening was also filled with elegant entertainment, in the form of a couple of songs from opera virtuoso George Yang, who is also the founder and chairperson of McDonald’s Philippines.

In closing, let me wish a special “Happy birthday” to my one and only sister Sandy! As relationships go, our special one as siblings is unassailable in its continuity and strength. We have both been there for each other through thick and thin, and that’s why, on my phone, she’s listed as Beloved Sis.
