The Sto. Niño Capitan Heneral will be enthroned on Sept. 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the Basilica of San Sebastian by Fr. Lauro Larlar, OAR, provincial of the Philippine Augustinian Recoletos.
The newly vested image is by Arnold Reyes. The image had been in San Sebastian since 1891 at the left side of the main altar (now occupied by San Nicolas de Tolentino).
The replacement was done in the 1940s. The Sto. Niño Capitan Heneral, meanwhile, was placed in a wooden “urna” positioned at the foot of the now, San Nicolas altar.
The image remained in San Sebastian until the 1980s, when Fr. Silloriquez, OAR, handed over the image to the Museo Rekoleto for safe keeping. The present parish priest of San Sebastian is Fr. James Bumangabang, OAR.
