Singer Christian Bautista is an astute businessman, one who knows when to save, invest or splurge. The fact that he is Watsons’ newest endorser for its Switch and Save campaign is a coincidence not lost on the brand.
His list of essentials include Watsons Charcoal Toothbrush that helps remove bacteria with bristles that clean deep in between teeth and the gumline; Watsons Tartar Control Mouthwash to help kill germs that cause bad breath, and help prevent tartar for a cleaner mouth; Watsons Breath Strips to keep his mouth always smelling fresh; Watsons Dental Floss; and Watsons twin blade razors.
The regional chain’s private brand consists of a wide range of personal care products including razors, bath products, lotions and even vitamin packs. Its claim is that Watsons products are priced anywhere from 20 to 85 percent cheaper than the leading brand.
When he was first starting out in the industry, Bautista wanted to mark his initial success with something tangible.
“I wanted to buy a sports car but my ninong (godfather) came up to me and told me not to buy it. ‘Buy the 14-unit apartment that was foreclosed by the bank,’ he said. That’s what I did, and now I have two businesses. I guess I imbibed the importance of investing from my elders,” he said.
Bautista recently said he enjoyed shopping at Watsons because of its convenience. “The store layout is very organized so it’s easy to find whatever you’re looking for and, of course, it always has those great deals on the products I often buy.”
He may have learned from his elders to live within his means, but he knows a good deal when he sees one.
After 10 long years, Bautista finally bought the sports car of his dreams.
