Mothers are truly special and deserve to be treated to equally special meals on Mother’s Day.
On May 10, Discovery Suites’ 22 Prime (tel. 7198888) serves a three-course set menu for lunch or dinner, with a choice of appetizer and main course and one dessert.
“The dishes are all my personal choices,” says executive chef Gerwin Bailon. “Meaning, these are the typical food that I’d like to serve for my mom on her special day.”
The gourmet experience starts off with a choice between Steak Salad and Seafood Velouté. The salad is a bit daunting due to its big serving, but it effectively rouses the taste buds while you enjoy the rich flavor of superbly done steak like the USDA Top Blade Steak served straightforward and soaked in its own juices.
It comes with organic mesclun greens showered with homemade calamansi dressing.
The thick and creamy soup is hearty and bursting with seafood flavor— squid, mussels, clams and snapper. It also has chunks of potatoes, carrots and celery, and is topped with basil oil and truffle foam. The soup comes with grilled homemade brioche.
Fish or red meat
For the main course, it’s a choice between fish with rice or beef with potatoes.
Soy Butter Glaze Halibut satiates in the summer temperature, giving off a moist, sweet and smoky-buttery taste. The plump fish goes well with its annatto pilaf rice accompaniment.
Oven-braised USDA Beef Cheek takes on an exciting spin as the beef is braised for four hours and expertly prepared to sufficient doneness while retaining its natural flavors and juices. The meat then sits on a potato-truffled purée and veggies. It is finally crowned with seared foie gras.
For dessert, the Deconstructed Tiramisu is all about delicate attention to details laid out beautifully on a platter—coffee-flavored
cake, fruits and mascarpone cheese on the side.
As an added treat, all moms who dine at 22 Prime on Mother’s Day will receive a box of pralines.
