Eight celebrity marathon-finishers prove that anyone can run

A marathon isn’t for everyone. Running a marathon requires a lot of physical and mental preparation but with enough motivation, anyone can get started. If you don’t believe it, just take a look at these celebrity marathon finishers.

 

Natalie Dormer

Best known for her role as Margaery Tyrell in Game of Thrones, Dormer finished the 2016 London Marathon in 3:51:21, just 24 seconds shy of her personal best in 2014. She didn’t mind though because the marathon was to raise money for Children in Need.

 

Alicia Keys

At the 2015 New York City Marathon, Keys ran to raise funds for her co-founded organization, Keep a Child Alive, which provides HIV medication for children and families in Africa. She finished in 5:50:52.

 

Gordon Ramsay

Celebrity chef and television personality Ramsay is as active on the race course as he is in the kitchen. He finished the 2012 London Marathon in 4:26:21. Even more impressive? He’s also an Ironman finisher, completing the 2013 Ironman World Championship in Hawaii in 14:04:48.

 

Ryan Reynolds

The face behind Deadpool, Reynolds was also a finisher back at the 2008 New York City Marathon. He crossed the finished line in 3:50:22 as part of a team raising money for Parkinson’s Disease.

 

Edward Norton

Famous for his roles in Fight Club and Birdman, Norton ran the 2009 New York City Marathon in 3:48:01 to raise money for the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust, an organization for the protection and preservation of the Maasai tribe.

 

Pamela Anderson

Actress and model Pamela Anderson ran her first marathon at the 2013 New York City Marathon and finished with a time of 5:41:03. She was running for the J/P Haitian Relief Organization.

 

Teri Hatcher

Known for her role as Susan Mayer in Desperate Housewives, Teri ran in the 2014 New York City Marathon with a time of 5:06:42. Similar to Pam, she ran for the J/P Haitian Relief Organization. She ran the marathon while training for triathlon in the same year.

 

Shia LaBeouf

At the 2010 Los Angeles Marathon, Transformers star Shia LaBeouf ran on behalf of the U.S. Vets, a nonprofit organization that services veterans in need, in honor of his father. He finished in 4:35:31.
