AS PART of the activities to celebrate the memory of National Artist Federico Aguilar Alcuaz, Galerie Stephanie is organizing an exhibit of works from the collection of the artist’s family estate. This will also be a welcome opportunity for collectors and friends of Aguilar Alcuaz to meet and greet the family of the artist. This exhibit will be in anticipation of the fifth anniversary of the artist’s passing on Feb. 2, 2011. Aguilar Alcuaz, born June 6, 1932, was 78 years old when he passed away.
The show opens Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at 6 p.m. and runs until Jan. 26. Galerie Stephanie is located at Unit 1B, Parc Plaza Building, 183 E. Rodriguez Jr. Ave., Libis, Quezon City.
Present at the occasion will be Ute Aguilar Alcuaz, the artist’s German wife, who flew in from the family estate in Hanover, Germany, as well as Christian Aguilar, the eldest son of the artist and the authorized authenticator of his works. Mrs. Aguilar timed her visit not only to be in Manila for the holidays and to visit eldest son Christian who is a professor and restorer of cultural heritage artifacts, but also for this all-important project.
The exhibit will be a preview of the works to be included in a book about the Aguilar Alcuaz family’s collection of the artist’s masterpieces and renowned artworks. The book is expected to be launched in the second quarter of this year.
As part of the celebration, a wine and cheese pairing will be hosted by Galerie Stephanie.
