IN PREVIOUS dining experiences at the Crystal Dragon at Crown Towers in City of Dreams, we delighted in a variety of exceptionally delicious à la carte menus.
When we revisited the restaurant, we discovered its new offering, Unlimited Dim sum Lunch with over 50 kinds of dim sum from the four corners of China.
The opulence of the Crown Towers lobby extends to the elegant ambiance of Crystal Dragon.
Dining area—This consists of a main dining hall, private rooms and banquettes. Lighting is subdued, noise from nearby tables was somehow muted.
Service—Four award-winning chefs prepared the diverse menus from the four regions of China. Kitchen must be extra busy but well managed as the dim sum we ordered arrived shortly.
Staff—A trio of ladies and a gentleman in Mandarin-collared tops met us graciously and offered the menu. They helped us choose from the wide selections.
Suggested orders—All offerings are dim sum. We carefully read each grouping to come up with an ideal combination to suit our hankering for these little Chinese dishes. They were all filling but since we were used to having rice for lunch, we asked for a small portion of fried rice—Yang Chow Style Wok Fried Fragrant Rice.
We could not stay away from the more familiar dishes such as the Shanghai Xiao Long Bun, with its steaming hot soup encased with a ball of meat.
Our orders arrived one after the other: Steamed Crystal Prawn Dumpling; Steamed Pork Belly (so soft) done with dried bean sprouts; Salted Duck encased in small orange-shaped fried dumplings; Steamed Mushrooms with Scallops and Spinach; Shang Yang Crispy Pork Tenderloin with Brown Sauce; and Flat Noodles with Vegetables and Thick Soup.
For dessert we had the unusual Mango Puree with Ice Cream, a perfect end to a very special meal.
The Unlimited Dim Sum Lunch is offered every Saturday and Sunday in two seatings, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. For dim sum lovers, this is the place to go.
