MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Tourism (DOT), together with the Yes Tourism Committee of the Shoe Mart malls, has initially conducted three separate Specialized Tourism Awareness Seminars for frontline service personnel at the Mall of Asia, Mega Mall, and North EDSA. The seminars have a total of 1,540 graduates.
“It is in the best interest of our people and the tourism industry that we equip the frontline service personnel of tourism-oriented establishments with knowledge on how to deal with tourists and visitors who frequent our malls for shopping and leisure,” said Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez.
“The culture of tourism and the thrust of making tourism the people’s business is what we are promoting to our fellow Filipinos, wherever they may be,” the tourism chief added.
Seeing the need to involve personnel who interact with tourists and mall goers everyday, the SM Yes Tourism Committee requested the DOT for the simultaneous conduct of the said training at the regions.
The seminars, which included an introduction and overview of Philippine Tourism, behavioral patterns and tourism products and services tailored for the specific region or place, were likewise undertaken for the branches in Sucat, Baguio, Calamba, Cebu and Davao last October 11.
