THE MANINGNING Miclat Art Foundation, Inc. (MMAFI), with the Art Circle Gallery, is calling on young artists below 28 years old to submit their entries to the 2016 Maningning Art Competition.
Theme for this year is “Mother and Child” and art work may be done in oil, watercolor, pen and ink, acrylic, brush and ink, or mixed media in Western or Oriental style. Entries must be framed. Minimum size is 45 cm x 60 cm (18 in x 24 in), maximum is 60 cm x 90 cm (24 in x 36 in).
Entries will be accepted on Sept. 21, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., at Art Circle Gallery (4/L, Robinsons Galleria East Wing, Edsa cor Ortigas Avenue, Quezon City; tel. 4511645).
Shortlisted entries will be exhibited Sept . 25-29; awarding is on Sept. 28.
The artwork should be accompanied with a sealed envelope containing the artist name, passport-size photo, biodata, copy of birth certificate and notarized entry form.
First prize winner will be awarded a Julie Lluch sculpture trophy and P28,000.00; second and third prizes, P15,000 and P10,000, respectively, plus certificate of merit.
All winners will receive special hardbound copies of “Fairground: A Literary Feast,” by Alma Miclat, and “Soul Searchers and Dreamers: Artists’ Profiles,” both jointly published by the Maningning Miclat Art Foundation and Erehwon Center for the Arts.
China-born Maningning Miclat for which the foundation and the prize were named, was a prize-winning visual artist, poet of three languages, essayist, translator/interpreter. She died in 2000.
