Your mantra for the week: “Wonderful, lovable, God-like me, this is the week all my dreams come true!”

The reason I often talk of building a personal relationship with the God within you is because, ideally, It should be your best friend. It’s called practicing the Presence, which brings peace of mind and harmony, not to mention material benefits.

This task is made easier when one considers that, in Isaiah 9:6, it is said: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

All these names make up what we refer to as the essence and nature of God.

Furthermore, when we are able to give the God within a pet name, our relationship to It becomes more personal, like translating the Prince of Peace to P.O.P.

When faced with any challenge, call on the God within. It is only a thought away.

Pun pun pun

I have received happy feedback for my Ho Ho Ho pun, and it has been shared a few thousand times online, proving that Filipinos are, indeed, a pun-ny people.

Sally Zaldivar Perez said she was tempted to call Doris Ho and ask whether to welcome investors to this Christmas shopping center. “I had a ball sharing the pun-ny list with my children,” Sally told me.

So, let me begin this part of my column with a warning that if somebody claims that he studied at the Law School of Saint Andrew of the Hill, he is just telling you that he finished his studies at Mababang Paaralan ng San Andres Bukid. And, pet lovers in Parañaque, know that there is a vet center called Su-Cat and Dog clinic.

Once a dream…

When I was talking to Local Government Secretary Ismael Sueno (dream in Spanish) in one of Sal Panelo’ parties, we both thought that his being the Interior head was a dream appointment. Now, he probably believes it’s a nightmare.

BBM who?

On April 3, Aurora Pijuan tweeted, “Robredo’s eldest daughter admitted to Harvard. BBM admitted to rehab?” On April 5, BBM was allegedly seen in Pampanga. Could it be that BBM stands for Boy Boy Marasigan, Boom Boom Marcelo or Bum Boy Marquez? Will the real BBM please stand up?

It’s all in the blood

Now that President Duterte is in his first cycle after his birthday on March 28, and we can assume that he will be enjoying the blessings of this cycle for the next 52 days, I will dare make a request. Instead of appointing the next barangay officials—because he believes 40 percent are under the influence of drugs—we should ask Congress instead to promulgate a law that will require all running for office to take a drug test.

Unfortunately, not all drug lords are drug users, and so the rich lords get away with ease, while the poor ones get it. And to think that many priests proclaim that “God loves the poor.”

I prefer affairs

I have been invited to a wedding affair. Actually, I prefer “affairs” to weddings.

This particular affair is just for show, sponsored by Solaire Resort and Casino with Philippine Tatler, Bulgari and Lookbook Magazine, to launch a salon event featuring 17 of Manila’s top designers.

The event, on April 20, 6 p.m. at The Lounge of Solaire, will also feature the products of Christofle, a manufacturer of fine silver flatware and home accessories, with support from the Write Impressions and Moss Manila.

Why Putin is happy

This elegant “affair” is to last for three hours only. A wedding, meanwhile, is a lifelong sentence—especially here where there is no divorce.

By the way, this could be the answer to Mr. Duterte’s wanting to know how Russian President Vladimir Putin stays single and happy. When a divorce law is finally promulgated, someone suggests that an article be added to the law to tax the new single men, because “bachelors have a greater opportunity to live better quality lives.” Ask Putin!

Graded ‘K’

Mario Katigbak’s events do not only give Bulgari a good name, it also gives all who attend a really good time.

Last week’s event was to introduce the B.zero1 rings in rose and white gold. The rose gold comes in four bands, while a three-band variant is available in white gold.

The rings sold very quickly, especially after the models—Valerie delos Santos, Girlie Benitez and Raphael Kiefer, one of the judges in the TV show “Philippines’ Next Top Model”—showed them to guests.

I was explaining to Girlie and Valerie that there was a feng shui way of wearing rings. They got so involved in wanting to know the meaning of wearing rings on each finger that Noel Tuason and Paqui Campos looked enviously at us.

Later on, the guys asked how I got these two lovely lasses to converse with me. I explained that I had told them I was not married, and clearly the guys were no longer single, because their wives, Duday and Lilibeth, were admiring the many diamond-encrusted items, not to mention the Bulgari bags, fast becoming as popular as their Hermès counterparts.

Among those who had it in the bag, so to speak, were Agile Zamora, Marian Ong and Serla Mirpuri, whose ex-husband will “still have to pay,” according to her.

Enjoying the Möet and Chandon champagne were Metro Magazine’s Raul Manzano, the always well-groomed Mayenne Carmona, EPITOME 2015 awardee Marivic Vazquez, the always congenial Mia Borromeo, and Johnny Litton in serious conversation with Connie Haw, and how!

It was nice seeing Bergamo’s Mel Meer after a long spell. He is now busy designing his new apartment, which he is leasing from diamond magnate and EPITOME 2015 awardee Mariquita Yeung. The Hermès-belted Nympha Valencia proudly displayed her new acquisition.

Michael and Kathy Huang were there, too. Michael’s sibling Catherine was with beau Doctor David Endriga, a successful orthopedic surgeon.

The more than 60 guests enjoyed the pass-arounds prepared by M Café.

Mario K should really consider putting up an events company. Those who have had the privilege of being invited to Bulgari and Hermès events will definitely attest to this. Mario-n talaga siyang K, as in K-atigbak!
