On the occasion of the 452nd anniversary of the rediscovery of the Santo Niño de Cebu on April 28, the pilgrim image of the Holy Child has been brought to Barangay Mayao, Oas, Albay in Bicol.
Until today, April 23, processions will be held between the chapel of Mayao and the Parish of St. Michael the Archangel.
Meanwhile, new officers and members of the Confradia del Santo Niño de Cebu-Mayao Chapter were inducted on April 22.
The Santo Niño de Cebu is considered the oldest Catholic icon in the Philippines at more than 450 years old. The image was recovered on April 28, 1565, in Cebu by the Legazpi expedition and has since been under the care of the Augustinians.
In honor of and devotion to the Child Jesus, the Holy See has canonically crowned the image. Cebu’s Santo Niño church, where it is housed, has been elevated to the status of minor basilica.
Pilgrimage to Tarlac
Pilgrims of Green Faith Travels will hold its fifth Easter Pilgrimage to Tarlac on April 29.
The itinerary includes a tour of the Chapel of the Risen Christ in Monasterio de Tarlac in San Jose; San Sebastian Cathedral (Tarlac Cathedral) in Tarlac City; Diocesan Shrine of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus in Ramos; Diocesan Shrine of Saint Josemaria Escriva in Gerona; and Our Lady of Ransom Parish Church in Tarlac City or Saint Catherine of Alexandria Parish in Gerona.
There will be a veneration of the sacred relic of the True Cross of Jesus Christ in Monasterio de Tarlac.
Pilgrimage fee of P2,500 per person includes round-trip transport via air-conditioned tourist bus, breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon snacks, bottled water, juice packs and a pilgrim’s kit.
Meanwhile, Green Faith Travels is accepting reservations for its trip to Lucban, Quezon, to celebrate Pahiyas Festival and feast of San Isidro Labrador on May 15. Pilgrims will also visit Kamay ni Hesus Healing Church and Shrine where the 50-foot Ascending Christ image is enshrined.

Radio Veritas (RV) 846, TV Maria, Catholic Media Network and Caritas Manila (CM) recently launched “The Lazarus Project.”
It’s a video about people seeing different characters who would typically suffer from judgment—such as an escort, a gay couple, a homeless man and a transgender attending a Holy Mass.
In the video, RV resident and CM executive director Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual explained the true meaning of the resurrection: “God rose from the dead for men, women, even gays… rich or poor, young or old, in all walks of life, whether you’ve had an education or not. Christ was resurrected for all of us, most especially for those who have sinned.”
To quote Pope Francis: “The Church is a place of mercy and hope where everyone is welcomed, loved and forgiven.”

To mark the 800th anniversary of the Order of Preachers, Santo Domingo Church in Quezon City is holding every Wednesday, 5:30 p.m., the perpetual novena to Saint Dominic de Guzman, founder of the Dominican Order.
Santo Domingo Church is also holding the perpetual novena to the Santissimo Rosario de La Naval de Manila every Saturday, 5:30 p.m. Mass follows at 6 p.m.
