I recently chanced upon Manos, a new nail salon that is hands down a top pick for innovation and creativity. It’s the brainchild of three friends who wanted to create a unique spa experience—one that offers more than just pampering and relaxation, but also promotes social and environmental consciousness.
Situated in the posh Burgos Circle at Bonifacio Global City, the nail spa welcomes customers with a café by the reception area. Here, one can sit and choose their preferred service from the huge blackboard mounted on the wall. Local industries
Manos’ services are meant to showcase and support different local industries. Manicure technicians, for instance, are sourced from Gawad Kalinga, then trained to give service with the highest standards in cleanliness and care. The spa treatments use Filipino products made of 100-percent natural ingredients, while the nail lacquers are toxin-free.
The interiors, furniture and other decorative items are all sourced locally to reduce the salon’s carbon footprint, and eco-friendly designs such as LED lights and energy-saving appliances are incorporated into the architecture.
Manos (“hands” in Spanish) evokes age-old Filipino values, foremost among them pagmamano—the kissing of elders’ hands as a sign of respect. That respect is reflected in this salon’s efforts at giving back to the community, environment and country. Manos’ Classic nail service includes a soak, clean, express massage and polish or buff (45 minutes) for as low as P190 for mani, P240 for pedi and P420 for mani+pedi; or a premium spa treatment, which includes a soak, exfoliating scrub, clean, and polish (60-75 minutes) for a range of: P380 mani, P450 Pedi, P800 mani + pedi.
