Amid the noise created by Philippine bet Maureen Wroblewitz’s victory on “Asia’s Next Top Model,” host Cindy Bishop took to social media to defend her from doubts and criticisms.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, Bishop shed light on the German-Filipina model’s “unexpected” triumph on the show’s fifth cycle. Wroblewitz, the shortest and youngest competitor on the show, outrivaled Malaysia’s Shikin Gomez and Vietnam’s Minh Tu Nguyen.
“I will not be saying any more on this, except this…The rules of modeling have changed drastically. We are seeing norms and stereotypes being challenged every day,” Bishop said.
“Body positivity being celebrated in all its forms (including height) and an entirely new arena of opportunity for models everywhere. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but let’s please be respectful of each other, of all the judges who took their jobs very seriously and debated together at length to finally come to a decision, and finally of these three amazing ladies who should be extremely proud of what they’ve accomplished both on and off the show,” she added.
She also congratulated Gomez and Nguyen for their exemplary performance and dedication throughout the season.
“You were such a joy to work with, professional to the utmost and always giving. Malaysia is lucky to have you as their queen,” Bishop gladly told Gomez.
She went on to laud Nguyen’s courageous spirit, saying, “You really rocked this competition from the very first day and made Vietnam so proud.” Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
