One grandfather in Scotland got so tipsy in a fundraising event that he bought a massive photo of a bridge, when ironically, he can already see the very same bridge just outside his window.

Murphy Green (@no1border) shared in his Twitter page a video of his 58-year-old grandfather Stuart Slicer’s purchase: a 10 x 14 feet photo of the Forth Rail bridge. As Green panned the camera, Slicer was seen sitting, and just beside him was the window showing the view of the real-life structure itself.

“Seemingly he forgot he could just open da blinds,” the netizen joked on his Twitter post Tuesday, June 12. He added that his granny, Slicer’s wife Helen, was “not happy with him.”

Green’s post quickly went viral upon posting, now with 29,000 retweets and 97,000 likes, as of this writing.

In a reply to another netizen @JockMcintosh, Green revealed that Slicer thought his purchase “was a great idea.” However, he added that his granny was “ready to chuck it and him into the garage.”

Slicer also phoned Green’s dad about his “surprise.” He added, “[And] I can assure you it was a big surprise. Grandad looks tiny next to it.”

“I genuinely thought that I would bring it home and the wife would be alright about putting it up,” Slicer told The Scottish Sun yesterday. “I then called my son down to the house and he just burst out laughing when he saw it.”

Slicer got the photo at a fundraising dinner last week, said the report. He also bought a tour package for the bridge, which he already crosses on his journeys while working as a train driver.

Instead of keeping the photo, Slicer and his wife decided to sell it — once they get a good offer — and donate the money to charity. The report stated that Slicer’s wife thinks the photo does not go with the wallpaper, and so the photo must go. Katrina Hallare/JB
