Japanese plastic model and anime figure maker Kotobukiya assembled its plastic giant 1:1 scale robot model from the PlayStation game “Border Break.”

The company previously displayed the parts of this plastic construct along the Tokyo Shinjuku station in early July as part of a marketing campaign. At the time, the parts were still in runners and looked like a jumbo-sized Gundam plastic model kit.

Everything was eventually cut out, given a masterful coat of paint, and assembled for a launch event on Aug. 2 in Akihabara, Japan. The date also marked the release of the Japanese version of “Border Break” for the PlayStation 4.

Similar to a master grade Gundam plastic model kit, the 1:1 “Border Break” mecha included lighting on its visor and in a few places around its armor. Fans who fancy the mech design could get the smaller toys which would be released at a later date.

It was not specified whether the plastic model could be made to stand up to its full height from its crouched display position. The idea could be plausible given the nature of articulation in larger plastic model kits, but the sheer size of a 1:1 scale model may make it difficult because the plastic may not support the weight.

Either way, Kotobukiya could be on track to earning a Guinness World Record for the largest plastic model kit assembled.

“Border Break” is a science fiction action game by Sega, which was initially released for the arcade in 2009. The PlayStation 4 version includes a new story mode to help introduce new players into the game.  /ra
