Two is always better than one—even for makeup. Save time, money and kit space with the unconventional use of your makeup staples.
These dual-purpose tips may even come in handy during fashion emergencies. We sourced the counters of SM Beauty and Watsons for items that render double duty.
MATTE BROWN EYE SHADOW
Made for: Eyelids
Can also be used on: Hollows of the cheeks as contour; lips as a mattifying color
How to: With a contouring brush, apply it like you would your usual contouring powder. Pick a shade that’s more taupe and avoid reddish browns as these make your contour unflattering and your skin looking sunburned and irritated. To sport the coveted matte lips that’s in vogue, dab the matte eye shadow onto your existing lipstick and you’re good to go!
LIP BALM
Made for: Lips
Can also be used on: Brows
How to: To keep up with the brushed-up brows trend, you need brow gel to keep your brow hair up, all set and steady. In the absence of brow gel, load the spoolie with your favorite colorless lip balm and gently comb it through your brows to keep them in place. Lip balm adds sheen to your brows, making them look healthy. A bar of soap can also do the trick. Scrub a moist spoolie on a dry bar of soap and brush it on your brows in upward motion.
PENCIL EYELINER
Made for: Upper and lower lids
Can also be used on: Lips
How to: Use an eyeliner, black or brown, as substitute for a lipliner if you want darker lip color. Just make sure your lips are well prepped with lip balm for smooth and even application.
MATTE LIQUID LIPSTICK
Made for: Lips
Can also be used on: Eyelids as liquid liner
How to: With angled eyeliner brush, dip it into the matte liquid lipstick of your choice and apply it as you would your favorite liquid eyeliner. Make sure you allow the matte liquid lipstick to completely dry and set before opening your eyes to prevent it from smudging.
LIPSTICK
Made for: Lips
Can also be used on: Cheeks
How to: On bare skin or on your foundation, pat it onto the apples of your cheeks as you would use your cream blush, then set with powder. You may also extend the color along the bridge of your nose, connecting your cheeks to create the trendy drunk-blush look. Create a monochromatic look by swiping a tinge of color on your lids as well. Lipsticks in corals, rose and pinks are some of the best shades to use as blush.
