The spa opened the same time as the Makati hotel three years ago and is one of the first to offer a Turkish-style hammam that the hotel describes as “an indulgence that promises utmost pampering and relaxation.”
The experience starts in the spacious steam-heated, marble-lined room, the only one of its kind in Makati.
After a full-body steam where you sip on lemon water and douse yourself with water using a brass bowl, you will be asked to lie down on the oval slab for a thorough body scrub.
Full-body exfoliation
The vigorous full-body exfoliation using a traditional kese mitt is followed by a soapy wash that will leave skin clean and refreshed. Guests are then instructed to rinse off in the shower.
To extend their pampering experience, guests can opt to continue with the spa’s signature massage that blends different massage techniques like Swedish massage, acupressure, and lomi-lomi, where the therapist expertly uses her forearms to knead and massage sore muscles.
This writer dozed off almost as soon as the massage started, and only woke up when he was told to flip over.
The staff at Terazi are professionals who are trained to ask more than, “Is the pressure okay?” They offer a selection of oils, each with its own therapeutic properties, and inquire if you’re comfortable enough.
