Art and design combine in jewelry installations by Wynn Wynn Ong
Exquisite jewelry by renowned designer Wynn Wynn Ong were exhibited and auctioned off at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila during the KaLIKHAsan Ball recently to mark Bantay Kalikasan’s 20th anniversary.
Gracing event were Bea Zobel Jr., Carla and Joel Del Prado, Fernando and Kit Zobel, Fred and Ina Ayala, Joanna Preysler-Francisco and Raul Francisco, Karen Davila, Lulu Tan Gan, Marianna Vargas-Morada, Mia Borromeo, Marc Nelson and Pops Fernandez.
The KaLIKHAsan Ball saw the performance by Sofia Zobel-Elizalde’s Steps Dance Studio – Steps Dance Project and Rama, paying tribute to Wynn Wynn’s “Sa Dagat At Bundok” collection.
Art installations were exhibited, built around Ong’s jewelry designs: “Newly-Discovered Fruit-Eating Bayawaks of the Cordilleras,” “Huli,” “Negosyo,” “Philippine Hornbill,” “Kwento ni Syokoy” and “Malakas at Maganda & Manananggal.”
Each jewelry series was inspired by creatures of the sea and mountains and brought to life, designed with specific gems in mind, and crafted entirely by hand.
Metro Society presented the Vanguard of the Sea award to swimmer Akiko Thomson for her work conserving the marine ecosystem.
Steward of Urban Oasis was awarded to Environment Undersecretary Marlo Mendoza, while the Earth Warrior Award was given to Ong for her “Sa Dagat at Bundok” collection.
Proceeds of the KaLIKHAsan Ball went to Bantay Kalikasan’s projects to conserve the environment and to uplift communities through ecotourism and agriculture. –CONTRIBUTED
